I first met Christian Petron and his charming wife Nicole in June 2013 during a visit organized by our mutual friend Pablo Torres. They came to see the collection which at that time was in my house. During an enjoyable lunch we spoke at length and agreed on many projects. First of all we had to create a structure in order to divulge the History of Underwater Imaging. It was a shame that such an extensive collection would only be seen by a chosen few.

In September that same year, after insisting for 2 years, I came to an agreement with the Maritime Museum of Barcelona (MMB) to prepare an exhibition about the History of Underwater Cameras. Christian joined the organization in march 2014. Since then we have collaborated on different activities and exhibitions about UW Imaging:

  • “UW Cameras: the challenge of taking photographs underwater” (Maritime Museum of Barcelona, October 2014 – April 2015).
  • “Underwater: 1st Centenary of the first Underwater Film” (Cinema Museum of Girona, July 2016 – January 2017).
  • “The UW Cameras” (XIX Diving Salon of Paris, January 2017).
  • “UW Professional Cameras” (Diving Salon of Barcelona, Cornella February 2017).
  • ………..

Since 2015, Christian Petron, a legend of Underwater Films, has been involved in the foundation of BUCaM and has donated all the cameras he has used during his long professional career of over 50 years.

His enthusiasm for this project grows day by day and he shares it with his circle of friends and followers on the social network.

Currently Christian Petron is the International Ambassador of the Barcelona Underwater Camera Museum.
